p. 37-38                 Academic Eligibility:

1.       Academic balance is the key component to success in the ACE program; and therefore, is our first requirement for athletic participation.  Academic balance is defined as at least one passed PACE test per subject every three weeks.  For athletic and privilege purposes, this will pertain only to one nine-week period at a time.  That is not to say that your student-athlete will not need to do any more than that to remain where he needs to be academically.

2.       Ineligibility will begin three school days after the Friday of the 3rd, 6th, or 9th week.  All other week’s ineligibility is for the entire week.

3.       If the student-athlete fails a PACE test, he has approximately one week to repeat the PACE and test again.  The grade for that PACE will be an average of the failing and passing grade, but it will not be any lower than an 80.

4.       For academic ineligibility, the student will continue to practice, will not play in the games, but will be required to sit on the bench with the team dressed in the school uniform—not team uniform.  Therefore, he/she will ride the bus.  An exception to this is the junior high player who would probably not be playing in an away game.  In this case, he/she would not ride the bus.

5.       Eligibility after a period of ineligibility will begin on the Monday following the attainment of academic balance and/or privileges.

6.       In addition to maintaining academic balance, we ask that our student-athletes be leaders; therefore, the student-athlete must say his/her monthly Scripture verses.

7.       Lastly, the student cannot have more than 45 minutes detention the preceding week.  Students are suspended from participation in sports for one week until privileges are re-established.

8.       When these requirements are met, the student has “A” privilege status and is able to participate in sports.

9.       Academically ineligible players may participate in tournaments and playoffs at the discretion of the coaches and administration.

10.    Please see the student handbook for non-academic guidelines.

Non-academic Guidelines:

3.       A team member who….a doctor’s excuse or verification of illness

6.  Should a student lose privileges for other than academics, he/she will not play for at least one full week or longer as determined by the administration based upon the severity of the offense.  The permission to practice, sit on the bench with the team at games, and ride in the bus to away games will be determined by administration based upon the severity of the offense.
