2010-2011 Student Convention
The weather was gloomy but spirits where high for twenty-eight 9th through 12th grade students of Rockwell Christian School Monday morning, March 28, as they boarded the bus headed for a week of competition at their Student Convention at The Wilds Christian Camp near Brevard, North Carolina.
The purpose of the Student Convention is to give Christian young people opportunities to develop leadership skills. The Convention motto is “Where else can one week last a lifetime.” Precious few experiences will influence students for their entire lifetime. Student Convention represents one experience that can make that bold promise. As one student affirmed, “The ACE Student Convention was a life changing experience.”

There were nearly 150 different categories of competition including academics, photography, art, athletics, music, and platform. From a field of nearly 500 students, RCS placed in thirty-five categories in the top fifteen including a second-place award for over-all academics, first in basketball, first five in Bible memory, four of the top six in spelling, first in male piano solo, first in soccer (nearly breaking the record), first in 200 meter dash, and numerous other awards in the top six. Twenty-two students qualified to attend the International Student Convention May 21-26 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
