Developing the Mind of Christ while Becoming Educated Leaders of Tomorrow
Purpose
MISSION:
The mission of Rockwell Christian School is to assist parents in developing the mind of Christ in each student. This development influences the student spiritually, physically, and socially while becoming God's educated leaders of tomorrow.
HISTORY:
Rockwell Christian School was established in 1976 as a ministry of Bethel Baptist Church to aid the community in developing young disciples of Christ in preschool through twelfth grade. Rockwell Christian School fulfills all of the requirements for the North Carolina Division of Nonpublic Education and is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools and the North Carolina Christian School Association.
PHILOSOPHY:
Rockwell Christian School is founded on the authority of the Word of God and emphasizes the fundamentals of the faith by using Christian educators to teach from a strong academic and biblical worldview. The objective is not only to teach truth but also to teach the application of the truth in every individual's life. The desire is for students to leave Rockwell Christian School with a solid relationship with Jesus Christ, an excellent education, qualities of spiritual leadership, Christ-honoring social attributes, and the perseverance to live godly in a changing world.
BELIEFS:
Inspiration and Inerrancy of Scripture: The Bible, infallible and inerrant, is the verbally inspired Word of God and our sole authority for faith and practice.
Creation and the Total Depravity of Man: The Genesis account of creation lasted only six literal, twenty-four-hour days. Man was created in the image of God, but because of Adam's sin, man became a sinner by nature. Mankind is totally depraved and utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.
Deity of Christ: The triune God eternally exists is three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God and born of a virgin birth.
Salvation by Grace: An individual becomes a child of God by placing his faith and trust in Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross and realizing that the shed blood of Christ is the only atonement for sin.
Person and Work of Christ: Christ had a a literal, bodily resurrection from the tomb and ascended into heaven. He is now the only mediator between God the Father and man.
Second Advent of Christ: Jesus Christ is personally coming again.
Eternal State: There is eternal blessedness for the saved (those who have accepted Christ) and eternal punishment for the lost (those who have rejected Christ).
Separation of Believers: Christians should strive to live together in harmony with fellow believers while living a life separated from the world and dedicated to Christ.
Person of Satan: Satan is a the author of sin, the cause of the Fall of Man, and the open declared enemy of God and man. One day, he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.
Human Sexuality: According to Scripture, God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of the bond of a biblical marriage between a man and woman. Forms of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. God created us a certain way and disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. The only biblical marriage is the joining of one man to one woman.
Abortion and Euthanasia: Human life begins at conception, and abortion is the murdering of the growing new life. Euthanasia including assisted suicide is murder.
Lawsuits between Believers: Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians to resolve personal disputes.
